2 questions for you

I'm thinking of changing my genealogy software because I am tired of getting the "error 43" message from UFT (also seems like a good idea if they're going to stop production). If I save my UFT data as a GEDCOM, it can be read by FTM or another program so I can just add it in, right?
Also, what would be a good program to move on to? I was thinking @ FTM, but after reading the messages in this forum, I am having second thoughts.
