Viewing FTM CD's with UFT ????

I was told I can browse/view FTM CDs (census, etc.) using UFT but I can't. Are they not compatible or am I doing something wrong? FTM website troubleshooting just says "make sure FTM is running..." - must I have the FTM software??? This is a pain! Any help much appreciated.
