I am doing this type of cleanup too. I clicked on Reports/Lists Sources. From the field list, I selected Source record number, Abbreviation 1, Evidence Number, Evicence Use, and How Used. I printed this list, and it is wonderful in helping me check off what needs to be edited and corrected. The evidence number and the source number together help me to identify the exact place.
The How Used gives the type of event, date, and Individual Record Number. So it is easy to locate the place where it came from. If it came from a citation in a text box, it says so.
(There is a minor bug regarding the individual's record number in that sometimes, but not often, the number is not correct. My workaround when the record number is wrong is to view an event list according to the date and locate the person by checking the date.)
This works, and I do anything to avoid searching in UFT.
