BACKUP--BACKUP-- BACKUP before you start this process.

Select the childs individual record and add a sibling with the same name. Note the record number.

Using the "Find" radio button on the bottom right side of the new individual screen, find the new individual and identify him.

Select the old individual and merge him to the new individual, deleting the old individual.

You may then renumber the new record to the old record number if you desire.
