TMG is very similar to UFT but uses different terminolgy and has a different look.TMG also is coming out with a 32 bit version near the end of the year. Both UFT and TMG currently are written in 16 bit software, actually the same software. The will be a bit of a learning curve with TMG as there was with UFT, particularly as far as the way UFT does searches and reports compared to TMG's way.Actually TMG report capability with it's Custom Report Writer is greater than what can be done in UFT.
However, if you are not interested in all of the bells and whistles provided by programs like UFT and TMG, you might want to look at Legacy or event FTW.It really is a personal decision.Leagacy has a working demo that you can download for free. You have to transfer you data to Legacy (or to FTM) using gedcom which might lose some data you have in UFT depending on which features you are utilizing.I'm not sure if FTM has a demo available or not.TMG also has a demo that you can download but I don't think it's a working demo from what I read (i.e., you can't enter and change data).
Hope this helps some...
