After you do your search to find the list of individuals you want to use in the research log report you have to move that result list to Grouping. This is done by either clicking on the Grouping button in the search window (you may have to do it twice, once to reactivate the window and once to do the grouping -- you will get a message indicating the number of individuals move to the Grouping list) or by going to Grouping and selecting the type of Individual search you did and clicking on the Search Button in that window which will then move that selected list to the grouping list. Once something is in the grouping list, the Use list will be activated under Grouping in the Research Log report window.
