Finding exceptions in a GEDCOM

I have received a GEDCOM from a FTM user and received over 4,000 exceptions with it. Many of the source notes came with GEDCOM numbers instead of actual sources. Could this be what the exceptions are? If so, is there any way, short of going over the actual GEDCOM info from the sender's computer, what those sources are?

I appreciate any daylight..... : )
