Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Name the flags, eg. Civil War Veteran, Marylander, China Tea Drinker, etc. Abbreviate. If the individual was a Civil War Veteran, indicate True. If she was a Marylander, indicate True. If he never drank tea in China, leave the flag as the default, ie. False. Just think of true and false as yes and no. When you search for all Civil War Veterans, just do an Individuals>Flag search, select that flag, and specify True.
