Hello Frank,

I could not say it better (in my school English). But there is a difference in the systems that your company produced the first was mechanical and the second software. In this case we have G.c. owning three software packages, FTM and FO for the intermediate ganealogist and UFT for the expert. They could have dropped FO and have one software for the beginner and intermediate and another for the advanced users.

They could even have suggested to raise the price again and hear our thoughts about it. Most of us former Roots and now UFT users are willing to pay a higher price to keep the software alive.

Now that there is only FTM the users of it will ask for more features and maybe in a few years FTM will grow to a level near UFT now. But that time it will be to late because the 'expert' users are elswhere.

As stated in my previous messages UFT is still the most complete program (along with TMG) and we will probably work with it for another year or maybe two. By that time the difference between other software packages will be smaller and maybe TMG will implement the few features that we 'need' so bad : - )

You do not have to switch to soon the Genbridge software will be finetuned the following months and TMG announces a 32bit version later this year. Of course I am speaking as someone who already has TMG and you guys may want to take the opportunity of the half price TMG offer...

However I still believe that G.c. must have the courtesy to solve a few more problems in UFT than they did with 3.1 I am not asking for enhancements or new features but simply that the existing features work as they should. We cannot use for example the Thombstone calculator.

Maybe the NGS conference in Providence is the time to ask this. A great part of the American genealogy community will be there amongst the press and then G.c. will be more perseptive I think.

Kind regards
