" Keep any GEDCOMs you download from the net, or that you get from friends, FAR away from your active UFT database. Set up a separate directory for your library, project, etc. and load them into a new database (for each GEDCOM). Maybe even better, if you have a different product (e.g. FTM), load them there. You don't know what garbage may be in the GEDCOM until you have checked over the data manually. And if it is good, you should load the data into UFT manually, using your own standards, e.g. for date and place names.
