Having made the conversion from UFT to TMG about 8 months ago, the answer is YES! The research notes were successfully transferred.
The only disappointment I had in the conversion process was citations embedded in a biography. As you know you can place citations next to individual quotes or information in a biography and when you print an ancestry or descendant report these appear as a footnote. TMG does NOT convert these. You will have to reenter these manually. However everything else converted well including all citations and footnotes for birth, marriage, death etc.
