>>You message states, in part, " keeping with our mission to provide all family history enthusiasts with tools to search their family history, we are putting a greater emphasis on products and services that are accessible online..."<<

>>What does that mean, exactly? That UFT isn't accesible online?<<

There is a transition going on in many areas of computing toward Internet and Web-based tools. For us, this currently refers to products and services including, the Internet Family Archives (, and Virtual Cemetery ( There is more that is being planned, and I'm sure things that we haven't even thought of yet will be added in the future.

>>Well, if you consider the difficulties that UFT users have encountered when attempting to upload web pages, and the difficulties encountered when accessing "Palladium"'s on-line resources by using the UFT Gateway, perhaps you're right.<<

We have actively been correcting problems with UFT uploads. The major one has been fixed, and we're looking at another now.

>>Even though you are discontinuing development of UFT, you state that you will continue to "distribute, sell and provide free technical support for Ultimate Family Tree version 3.0 through the next year". Does that mean through 2000 or through 2001?<<

I imagine that support will continue for at least another year (from now) and that'd we'd give advance notice of plans to stop offering support.

>>Finally, with what "on-line tools" will G.c provide us in addition to Will the UFT website still function, and will it still be accessible through the UFT Gateway?<<

The UFT Web site will continue to exist indefinitely.

Paul Burchfield, Technical Support
