This sounds like a Family Tree Maker problem, and is probably version specific if you are using multiple floppies.

The FTM 4.4 and earlier Knowledge base article on the subject of multiple floppies leads to a dead end (moved or deleted on the server).

Try the FTM forums and Knowledge Base articles on Genealogy.com, or export the gedcom file to your hard drive so that you don't have to make multiple floppies. Then import into FTM and re-export the data in FTM backup format to your correspondent.
