Still "Unable to update UFT" Error

Paul,

Like Michael McCarthy, I am still unable to get this darned patch to run. I have the retail version of UFT 3.0, and tried to run the puft3ra.exe patch, to which I receive the following error messages:

"Patch Error
Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match."

When I click on "OK" (the only option offered), I get the message:

"Unable to update UFT"

When I click on "OK" (the only option offered), it returns me to my desktop with no update. Very unsatisfying, to say the least.

Let me answer the questions you posed to Michael:

>Currently, how many uftree.exe files are on your system?

Two

>Can you tell me where they are located and if you start each of them can you tell me
what you see in Help-About UFT for each?

One copy on C:\uft28 (Help-About gives "Version 2.8")
One copy on C:\UFT (Help-About gives "Version 3.0")

>When you start the update you receive whicih message originally?

See above for error messages and sequence

>If after choosing OK to whatevere message you see, you are then given the dialog box to pick the location of UFTREE.EXE, what is the initial dircetory that appears in that dialog box?

I am never given a dialog box to choose anything, just the two error messages above, each with the single option of clicking on "OK".

I would appreciate your help.

Patiently yours,

Jim Hunke
