Did you perform a fresh installation of UFT 3.0 to a new directory as I asked Bob?
If you try that make the directory name something simple and short without spaces (like UFT3TEST).
Where is your current version installed?
Finally, in Windows, hold down your CTRL+ALT keys and with them held down press ther Delete key one time. This should bring up a screen titled Close Programs list. What is in this list? A good test to make sure nothing could be interfering with the installaiton of the update would be to turn off anything unnecessary to running Windows. So, while UFT is closed, use the Close Programs list and highlight and choose End Task on everything except Explorer and Systray. You'll have to do this one at a time until the Close Programs list has just those two items. Then try installing the update.
You may also want to accomplish something similar by starting Windows in the Safe Mode. To do this, restart your computer and when you see the message "Starting Windows 95/98..." press the F8 key on your keyboard. This should bring up a menu and one should be Safe Mode. Choose that mode and when windows starts it should say Safe Mode in all 4 corners. Then try installing the update.
Let me know what you find.
