This is just a convenient way to create a new source that has some of the same fundamental characteristics of one you have already set up. For example, suppose you had already created a source for XYZ County Court Minute Books at the local court house. You could then use that source to create a duplicate and change the fields to make an XYZ County Court Bond Record Books, etc., etc.
