Aside from the problems with the basic core of the program, let's hope that Quality Assurance takes a close look at the installation issues before casting the next release in stone.

I just installed UFT 3.0 on an unused newly formatted hard drive. I got a little cute and tried to name the installation folders UFT 3.0. Don't use periods (I guess that was the problem). Seldom have I seen such a mess. After I uninstalled the program I let it automatically install itself.

Aside with the extremely bland appearance of the display using UFT with minimal video drivers, the Kennedy report looked O.K. Then I tried clicking on the Picture Works utilities to see what they were. There is no way to escape from a full install of those programs without a three finger salute or providing dummy name, address, etc in numerous boxes. How is a beginner computer user going to fare with that.

And of course there are the known problems with the tutor, which is the first thing a new user would click on. The tutor problem was supposedly not a programming glitch, but was instead a CD-Rom formatting problem that got by Quality Assurance people who already knew how to run the program.

Now if you have a brand new computer (or newly formatted hard drive with only Windows), your next leap of logic will be to try to access the manual instructions on the CD. Lots of luck if you don't already have Adobe Acrobat installed. The UFT program asks you to associate the files youself. "Huh, what't that", the newbie computer user says. If you click on Wordpad, you get a very strange display.

None of the above is new, but perhaps Quality Assurance will give a look at the Installation Process from a first timer's perspective before making the next release.
Let's all hope that there is another release of the program, and that we all can see the difference between having a program that works properly and free Web Pages that work properly. :)
