Hello Julie Rogers,
3.0 lets you do global find and replace.
3.0 now has 3 versions of footnotes, long, short, and ibid. Both of these features are very nice.
2.8 is good to have if you have ever added a citation in the body of any text box. If you are printing a family journal report from 3.0, all printing stops when the program reaches that citation. But 2.8 does not have this problem.
Also 3.0 has a problem when uploading to a website, it uses a italic font for some footnotes. 2.8 does not.
2.8 (uploadable from http://www.uftree.com (tech support or something) should be installed on top of 2.7.
Then install 3.0 in another folder, NOT in the same folder as 2.8. Point the new 3.0 to where your projects and libraries are located. Now, you can use 3.0 for everything but printing stuff containing citations in text and for uploading (without the italic problem)its useful features. And you can use 2.8 for those two problems 3.0 has that are mentioned in the above paragraph.
You can enter and edit data in either program since you are using the same project and libraries in each program.
