Indented Descendant Chart for E-mail
Posted by: Jim Cave Date: February 15, 2000 at 02:21:32

I would like to be able to insert an indented descendant chart into the body text of e-mail. The format is not right using RTF so I looked for ASCII. Then the strange characters appear instead of lines. The knowledge base says:
"Question:
Why do I get strange characters instead of lines when I print an Indented Descendant report to an ASCII file and how can I get lines?
Answer:
The ASCII report is designed to be opened in a DOS program such as DOS Editor. To get lines to appear in a .TXT file in Windows programs, export the report as a Rich Text Format file to WordPad. (Choose Other in the Editor Choice field of the Print Setup window and find WordPad.exe using the Browse button.) Open the RTF file in WordPad and then save it as a .TXT file."

This does not work for me. Wordpad has no lines as stated in the KB, or generation numbers so the format renders the chart contents unclear. Is there a text version with generation numbers or lines?
