Family Yearbook Offer

My mother received an offer for a "Slayter Family Yearbook" in the mail. A few people, and places are mentioned - - none that we have in our tree at the moment. Is there a way to tell if the offer is real without ordering it? The offer is for a book and a Family CD ROM. The return envelope goes to "The Family News" in Denver, Colorado. The cost is $34.85 plus $5.00 for an order processing fee. We are courious, but don't want to waste $40.
