Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

"Both of these methods now work for me. Thanks
Ruth Steck"

Suggestion: Perhaps in the future, experienced UFT users should not create confusion by mentioning the DOS ASCII (Codepage 850) keystrokes for these characters (Alt xxx).

There are of course reasons - some real (Harry), some from force of habit (Ron) - to use the old DOS ASCII keystrokes, but they do not apply to most new computer users who have only Win 95 or later operating systems.
