I dont think its the software, but rather your computer. Check the amount of space left on your hard drive. If you run anti-virus software like Norton, any deleted files that are put into the "norton protected recycle bin" still remain on the computer for possible retrieval. Clearing all temp files and de-fragging the har4d drive may help gain some more space. Another option, is to burn your backup onto cd.
