Thanks for your quick response. After copying everything from the hard drive, the man I hired unplugged all of the components and hauled the old computer into the garage.
I finally had the 485 replaced because the mouse port died and I wasn't able to access anything beyond the main screen.
I'll print off the information you suggested in hopes that the "computer guy" can fix the problem.
