FTM Backup
Posted by: Glenda (ID *****3951) Date: November 09, 2005 at 12:23:23

I'm old fashioned--I want to backup the FTM v. 11 data file using Windows Explorer & manually copying to an external drive. I do this regularly with, e.g., Outlook.pst, Access "filename.mdb" etc. and am then certain I have complete and an unaltered (not compressed) backup file containing all records. I cannot find a comparable so-called data file for FTM. When I use the FTM "Backup Family File" feature I get "filename.FBC" - Type "FTW Compact Backup File". When searching Windows Explorer for the program and data files, I find "filename.FBK" and "filename.FTW"--the latter seemingly the full unaltered data file I'm looking for. Can anyone set me straight? Thank you.
