What are the extentions for data files; ,dbf, .fpt or .cdx???

Robert Strock told me that none of the data files should be read only. My question is....what files are data files.
I sent the following to Robert on 25 Feb here on genforum, but as yet no response. I am sure people have better things to do than to solve my problem. I just want to get my UFT working, need to back it up and get back to helping others in genealogy.

Bob..... Are data files shown as .dbf?? I finally got up the courage to the Project/Check.... marking everything but " Add Birth/Death events, GEDCOM tags and Streamline Research Text". Clicked Repair and then was given the error messages of "variable new rec not found" and File "SaveMe" does not exist. I could go no further and had to ctrl/alt/delete to get out. Nothing seems to go well for me lately. Am I ever going to get my projects back to normal...... Also, could you tell me what "archive" means and does (shown in file properties).

Thanks.... Marysue
