Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

NOW, can you give me a brief example of when/why I would use the choices "Printer Codes" or "ASCII Test" in the Print Setup box? (as opposed to the RFT for Word).

The short answer is NEVER.

The ASCII character set has been replaced by the ANSI character set in MSWindows. The "Printer Codes" dump is also a holdover from days gone by.
