oh - I forgot to add my sources: Apart from my own inherited family research, I have added information from the mormon genealogy database (www.familysearch.org) and from a file supplied by Avery Baloglu on http://awt.ancestry.com - basically all my information about the american Uffmanns is based on Avery's work. I have merely identified the links to the german origins and verified that the people which emigrated did not have a followup history in germany - so far Avery's information seems to be pretty reliable - I think I'll post him a thank you right now :)
Nancy Baloglu that posted here in 2002 seems to be a close relative of that Avery.. If you're still reading - *wave* :)
