The Tison/Tyson family of Effingham County, Ga. is still being researched here in Effingham. We noted all of these 1999 postings and would like to have documentation and references on the above named children of Camel and Unity Dykes Tison.I believe that there are errors here! After going through the records available here we are quite puzzled by some of the names and think they may be a simply oversite. And that two of the offsprings wives were slipped in here as siblings. To be specific I mention the child Luther Henry Tison/tyson.He married a Winifred Hines on September 3, 1814.Calvin Tison married a Mary Johnson Jan. 11, 1822.You will notice that in this material posted here a Mary and a Winifred were given as daughters!!!We find no actual daughters by the names of Winifred or Mary, this were perhaps daughter-in-laws.There is perhaps a missing daughter here also, tho.The Effingham guardianship records idenify one Tinny as being of this line.Tinny married a John Wolfe, July of 1827 and they had several children. When John Wolfe died Tinny or Timny Wolfe applied for guardianship of their children.Local descendants agree with this information. The marriage of this couple was recorded in Chatham County Georgia and they are found in the Effingham census records. Thus we list the children of CAMMEL Tison and Unity Dykes as follow:
Calvin Tison d. abt. 1851 married Mary Johnson 1/11/1822 Effingham Co. Ga.
Johnathan Tison d. abt. 1835
Luther Henry Tison married Winifred Hines Sept. 3, 1814
Tinny Tison married John Wolfe (a scond marriage for John) m. July 21 1827 Savannah, Ga.
William C. Tison
Unity Tison
Mahala Tison m. James Blitch on July 23, 1808 Effingham County, Ga.
William Camel Tison who married Amanda A. Cannet was in the civil war.He can be found in the publication THOSE GALLANT GEORGIAN'S WHO SERVED IN THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES, by Jimmy Arnsdorff. Camel did in the General Hosipital at LaGrange, Ga. on Aug 8, 1864.
The records of Effingham produce a petition dated Nov. 1867 for support Amamda and of the minor children, so named in this document as being:
Lalina, Luria(?) A., Ella E., and William C. Tyson.
(Amanda was of french descent and she remarried after Wm. Camel died. She remarried Lemuel Sheppard who was born in Screven County marriage was Nov. 20, 1867. )
Can anyone more clearly idenify the above four children?
any comments, documentation, or questions welcomed.
