The siege and the Battle of Kinsale took place in Jnauray 1602. Captain Richard Tyrrell, who had defeated barnwell at the Tyrrells Pass and who was of the Tyrrells of Grange Castle (See J H Tyrrell 'A Genealogical History of the Tyrrells' pg 104), was in the vanguard with the O'Neill leading the main army and O'Donnell taking up the rear. They were routed. I recommend for your reading the book 'Richard Tyrrell Elizabethan Captian' by Jennifer A Kelly published by Tyrrellspass Development association , Tyrrellspass, Co Westmeath,in 1997.
