JAMES ELIAS TINER was born 11 January 1804 in LAURENS COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA.
The only Tiner/Tyner found on the 1800 Laurens census was WILLIAM TYNER, age 26-44, with a female of the same age group, in addition to one male and one female under 10. The only Tiner/Tyner found on the 1810 Laurens census was MARY TINER, age 26-44, with another female of the same age group, in addition to one male and one female 10-15 and two males under 10.
The earliest record found for Elias is his 30 January 1834 marriage to SARAH MOON in HALL COUNTY, GEORGIA. He has not been found by name as household head in 1830, indicating he may have resided in his parents' household. He was in Mississippi by 1840 where he was enumerated in Lafayette County. Another man by name of John F. Tiner, born in 1799 South Carolina, was also there; as far as known, his parents have not been identified. He was likely a brother of Elias.
Looking for any additional info on early Laurens County Tiners/Tyners. Was Mary the 1810 widow of the 1800 William? Also, suggestions welcome as to Tiner/Tyner families of 1834 Georgia who could have been Isaac's family.
