Richard Tyner was called "Black Haw" and is sometimes referred to as "Black Hawk". He was the son of Harris Tyner by his wife Nancy Adair. Nancy's father was an Indian trader and historian James Robert Adair. Richard married a full blood Cherokee by the name of Agnes Dougherty. My great grandmother told that she was called by several names, which is typical in Indian ancestry. She was called Aggie in her adult years, Sukey in her youthful years, but there were some who called her: Piute.
Charity Crump Purcell is the daughter of Agnes Tyner, daughter of Richard and Agnes "Sukey" Dougherty. Charity's father was Robert Crump of Stokes, VA.
