Tyler DNA Project

The Tyler Family DNA Project seeks male descendants of John Tyler who was in Portsmouth RI by 1654. DNA results of one John Tyler descendant indicate 99% likelihood of relationship to Job Tyler who was in Newport RI by 1638. Several members of the DNA project are Job Tyler descendants. Willard I. Tyler Brigham, author of "The Tyler Genealogy: The Descendants of Job Tyler.." suggested that Job Tyler and John Tyler were "near relatives". DNA from more participants descended from John Tyler would help to prove this relationship. See the Tyler DNA Project at
