Andrew, hello
I believe there were two Edmunds b about 1890 in Earl Stonham.
1. Edmund b. 1791 Earl Stonham, d. 1856 Creeting; dtr Ann b 1836...no other detail as yet.
2. Edmund b.1789, d. 1876, Earl Stonham. he m Ann Browse Hayward ( Howard ?) 1817 Mendlesham.
They had a son Edmund 1822-1891 who m Dorcas Mills.
They had a dtr Ann Maria b 1852, m Phillip Lambert. These were my Gt Grandparents.
I just remember, as a small boy, meeting Ann Maria and visiting the family home (Broughton Hall, Stonham Aspal) about 1945 !
I have not found a baptism record for Edmund 1789, but understand that for financial reasons some families missed out the baptism at about this time. I believe this branch of the family was poor as there are records of Edmund receiving free schooling.
I have another possibility. A Susan Garrod had illegitimate children Pleasance, 1787, Stephen 1789, Samuel 1792, Edmund 1794 & Mary Ann 1797, all bapt 1798.
Also I know of a researcher looking for a Pleasance Tydeman b about this time.
Coluld these be Tydemans by adoption ?
No real evidence...just a thought ! and I can't find any evidence for or against.
Did "your" Edmund marry Emily Crooks ? If so I would be very interested in your line.Regards
Colin Gooch
