I searched the book, Obituaries of the Graham Leader. There were no Bass surnames listed in either the 1887, 1888 or 1889 years.

In fact, there were no references to the Bass surname in the Graham Leader for 1888-1889.

In 1887, Graham Leader, I did find the following Bass surnames:
A.F. Bass
A.T. Bass saw a large wolf on Givens Creek
Jim Bass
