From the book, Obituaries of the Olney Enterprise, it shows that J.W. Armstrong died at the family residence in Olney on Monday night, 16 September 1912. He had been in bad health evidently because his death certificate shows that he died of tuberculosis of the bone.

His remains were transferred to Graham for burial in Oak Grove cemetery. There are not funeral home records listed for any of the funeral home records in the county. The newspaper also mentioned that he was survived by a wife, 2 children and a brother living in Loving [which is near Jack county].
