Betty, there is a local historial who lives in Young County, Barbara Neal Ledbetter. She has written several books about the historical area. Two that might be of interest to you would be: "Fort Belknap Frontier Saga: Indian, Negros and Anglo-Americans on the Texas Border" and "Fort Belknap of Yesterday and Today (1851-1963)".
