Sam Houston Dear is buried in Sand Springs Cemetery near Mineola in Wood County.

Early Wood County Census info states Sam's father was born Mississippi and his mother Alabama.

1920 Wood Co, TX
Head Sam H Dear M 50
Wife Nannie J Dear F 44
Child Sam C Dear M 9
Child Elizabeth Dear F 6
Child James O Dear M 3
Father's Birthplace: Mississippi
Mother's Birthplace: Alabama

I am trying to determine who Sam's father was. Bit's an pieces of info tells me that my Great Uncle Houston Dear of Rankin County, MS might be his father or related in some way.

Houston Dear was orphaned at a young age. By the time he was eight years old both parents had passed away, 1840 and 1844, and it appears he had moved from Rankin County, Mississippi to Smith County, TX by 1850 and was raised by the Webb's on his mothers side of the family.

I found Houston, at age 14, living in the household of his deceased half brother Thomas Webb in Smith County, TX. It appears Thomas's widow Sarah was raising Houston along with her two children.

1850 Smith Co, TX
Sarah Webb 28 F W Farmer 1,280 MS ....( Widow of Thomas Webb )
Thomas Webb 6 M W TX
Ella Webb 3 F W TX
Houston Dear 14 M W MS .....( Half brother of Thomas Webb, deceased )

Thank ahead for any info.
