By now you may have found what you wanted, if not, I found some of the following (not my family.)

TX Dth Idx thru 1976, those that died in Wood Co, TX:

Joe Fletcher, is listed as colored; father S.F. Fletcher; mother Jane Osban

Others were listed as white:

Maurine Fletcher, b 1917, d 1918; father Frank Fletcher; mother Ivie Wilson

Loyd J. Fletcher, b 1933, d 1933 (1 day old); father Floyd E. Fletcher; mother Mattie Parks

M. Frank Fletcher, b 1884 TX; d 1918; father G.M. Fletcher; mother Hazland

George Mills Fletcher; b 1859 MS; d 1938; father John Fletcher; mother Bell; spouse Ettie

Since you seem to be focused on Wood Co, TX, I took a look at the 1900 census for Wood Co:

Fletcher, Joe W. h, b 1854-46, m 22 yrs, b MS, MS, MS
" Laura, w, b 1855-45, m 22 yrs, b TX, IL, KY
" Newt, s, b 180, 20, b TX
" Lena, d, b 1887, 12, b TX
" Walter, s, b not clear, b TX
" Curtis, s, b 1893, 7, b TX

1880 census Wood Co, TX:

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

J.W. FLETCHER Self M Male W 26 MS Works On Farm MS MS
L.A. FLETCHER Wife M Female W 25 TX Keeping House IL KY
John Rufus FLETCHER Son S Male W 2 TX MS TX
Samuel N. FLETCHER Son S Male W 6M TX MS TX

Here is Joe W.'s father, apparently Sarah, wife of James has died:

James N. FLETCHER Self W Male W 56 MS Farmer NC NC
J. Oscar FLETCHER Son S Male W 24 MS Works On Farm MS TN
Mary E. FLETCHER Dau S Female W 17 MS Keeping House MS TN
Eliza A. FLETCHER Dau S Female W 13 TX At Home MS TN
Delia G. FLETCHER Dau S Female W 8 TX At Home MS TN

1870 census Wood Co, TX:

Fletcher, Jas., 48, b MS
" Sarah, 42, b TN
" Martha, 20, b MS
" John, 18, b MS
" Joseph, 16, b MS ********
" Oscar, 14, b MS
" George, 11, b MS
" Ellen, 6, b MS
" Liza, 3, b TX

1850 census Leake Co, MS:

Fletcher, James, 26, b MS
" Sarah, 20, b TN
" Jane, 2, b MS
" Martha, 4/12, b MS

On the archived queries from the Leake Co, MS GenWeb, someone posted in 2004 a query regarding James Newton Fletcher and Sarah P. Terry, info matches this couple. With that information I went to RootsWeb's WorldConnect site -- http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi -- Typed in Fletcher, James, spouse Terry and there's a match. They only have one child listed, youngest daughter of James and Sarah. I would contact that submitter, find out how they learned the maiden name for Sarah, middle name for James etc. Then share what you now have from other census records on more of the children of James and Sarah. By sharing you both will learn more.

You only gave AL as a location for your branch, did they have any connection to MS? Oldest Fletcher on that 1850 census Leake Co, MS is Asa, 55, b Mass, what appears to be his wife, Elizabeth, 54, b NC, all children born in MS. Does any of that help to make any connections for you?

Happy Hunting (^_^)
