Seeking information on a handful of Blackwoods who migrated to Texas in the late 1800's. The names are James L. Blackwood, G. T. Blackwood (we think the G is Gideon), "Cal" Levi Calicutt Blackwood, and William B. Blackwood. We think they are brothers but are not sure; if not, we believe they are at least relatives.
Most of our information comes from Census and Probate records in Young County, Texas; and Census records in Wise County, Texas.
G.T. settled in Wise County, Texas and the others settled in Young County, Texas. Census records show that they all report that both of their parents were born in North Carolina.
The birth places of the brothers (we hope they are brothers) were:
James L. - North Carolina...About 1847
G.T. - Tennessee...About 1852
"Cal" Levi Calicutt - Mississippi...About 1853
William B. - Mississippi...About 1857
So it looks like the trail for the family was NC > TN > MS > TX. We have not been able to determine the parents' names or what counties to look in. We do not know if there were other siblings - if so, the other siblings did not come to Texas with them. It also appears that the parents did not come to Texas with them.
