Grady - there was a relatively large group of Swifts that moved from Virginia and Kentucky in the 1850 - 1860 time frame. Most originally settled in Hays County fairly close to Wilson County. The names of the early ones were Francis Marion Swift, Richard Mercer Swift,Charles B. Swift and Lawrence B. Swift. The next 50 years sees them living in San Marcos, Seguin, San Antonio, and Uvalde.
