I'm hoping to connect with other people researching their Hispanic roots in Wilson County, Texas.
My great grand mother, Antonia Gonzales was born in 1879 in Wilson County, but moved with her family while she was a newborn to the new town of Brackett, in Kenny County in time to be counted there for the 1880 census.
Of course the 1890 census for that county was destroyed.
I have the marriage certificate for my great great grandparents, Nestor Gonzales and Guadalupe Peres, issued February 3, 1875 in Wilson, Texas.
I suspect my family goes back to the founding of San Antonio by Canary Islanders, although they may have always lived in what later became Wilson County.
I know my great grandmother, and her two year older sister, Catalina Gonzales, remained in Kenny County until at least 1895 when they both married in that year.
Thank you for any pointers you can give me.
Best wishes to all.
