Frances A. is Alice and I'm guessing with age differences John was probably previously married. There is a George, Charles and H---t on the same or previous page of that census. Age would indicate if they are sons of John, they would have been from previous marriage.
Looks like J.B. Dismuke 1880 census Lavaca Co, TX is your man, living alone. There is a Paul Dismuke in Tarrant Co, TX that could be a brother. Found him on Rootsweb's WorldConnect and they show him from Sumner Co, TN. I did a quick look at Sumner Co, TN GenWeb site and did a Dismuke search, with over 70 matches. You might want to take some time and look through those. There is a John on the 1850 census there, 11 years old, head of household is George. http://usgenweb.org/ This is the U.S. level, click on Tennessee, then click on Sumner Co. Use search feature. I entered Dismuke, but that other spelling shows up, too -- Dismukes.
On a hunch I went looking for the George Dismukes, father of John on 1850 census. You are in for a surpise. Rootsweb's WorldConnect - http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi -- I typed in Dismukes, George, born 1801 + or - 5 years. Seven matches, but click on the 6th one. You will end up finding John Bell and his third wife Frances Alice, etc. John fought in the Civil War, his widow applied for pension. Lots of information.
