I have just finished transcribing a personal journal kept by my husband's grandfather, Henry Clements Burge, dating from 11-15-1915 to 09-26-1920 in the TX counties of Jones, Fisher and Wichita.

One of the references in the journal is as follows:

December 12, 1915: I took dinner at the Star Hotel yesterday. Ed Acker, and Jess Green and Jack Mabean were there also. There was a jolly good fellowship expressed at this occasion. At supper we had a leather drummer to enliven the meal. He told of a tight he got into on a muddy road this fall. He ran off of a little tin culvert and could not get his car back in the road. He went up on a nearby hill to see if he could see a light, but in vain. He then started back to his car and fell into a deep ditch among thorns. The way he told it; he made it humorous.

The Star Hotel was in either Rotan, Fisher Co., TX or Hamlin, Jones Co.,TX.

The Journal is about 60 pages long and has numerous references to people and sites in Jones, Fisher and Wichita Counties (TX.)

Will be happy to share notes with researchers in these counties.
