Jennie's husband was James Edward Shelby, age 21 in 1906. Jennie was born in Dallas Co, TX 9 Dec 1888..Where did they go??

This is in response to email from Sandy, and : SHELBY and DRIGGERS GenForum...

>I was exited to see this posted when I logged on this morning. I believe that Mary F Sirkel Driggers is my husbands
grandmother. We don't have much on her. I am a complete novice in this area and wonder what the numbers mean and how I
could go about finding out more. Do you think you could clue me in. How does she fit into your family? I believe that she
remarried later.

My response:
Still trying to ID the Shelby's..
.makes research fun... I was in our library yesterday looking up a name for someone else, [and gave her the pages with the
addresses] and decided to check for Shelby, and found these..and photo-copied the page...Well, while I was roaming around
in the various areas of the GenForum last night, I decided to check and see if there was a DRIGGERS forum..that is how I
came to post this..

I suspect these Driggers-Shelby's are all related and each was trying to establish ties to their Cherokee heritage..

The one I posted for Jennie Etta Shelby [thru her parents, not the Shelby's- hers was rejected], was sent to me by Richard M
Shelby <RMSHELBY@pacbell.net>, so he was the first to alert me to these.

I posted them the way they are in the book..That number is the application file number that is used when ordering the record.
Richard may know more about how to go about ordering, and the cost...I'd like to have them also..
I had simply copied the pages without really looking at the book, [library was closing of course] so I need to go back to the
library and look again...

This book I'm referring to THE GUION ROLLS [Eastern Shore Cherokee's] is a large hefty book, and new..One of our gen.
soc. members donated it..stating it was not only easier to use, but more accurate than the Cherokee by Blood volumes..

Many of the larger libraries have them- there is a series.volumes of books called CHEROKEE BY BLOOD - the ones our
library has are for the Eastern Cherokee's..I think there is also a series for the Western Cherokee's....
These are something I admittedly haven't studied real close, TSK..

I'm CCing a copy of this to Richard, so I'm including these for his benefit: and also to Jay Peel.

The Guion Rolls..Eastern Cherokee Indians..1906-1909

forum.]

Application # 37696, SHELBY, Jennie Etta, LUCAS born 1888 TX, living Mobeetie, Wheeler Co, TX in 1906-09
[My note-don't have them handy, but have these papers- thanks to Richard M Shelby]

Application # 44824, DRIGGERS, Nathan, born 1885 TX, living Van Alstyne, Grayson Co, TX in 1906-09

I'm not directly connected to any of these..SHELBY's are my hobby :-)), as my husband is a desc of Gov Isaac Shelby of KY.

Hoping this helps someone, and we can get these folks identified!
Judy
