I found a Mose Ray, born 1850 in AL on the 1880 census for Wharton Co, TX. The whole family is listed as "B" for Black. If this is your family you should include that in your queries, it really helps to narrow the playing field.

Category: Name; Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

Mose RAY Self M Male B 30 AL Laborer AL AL
Durah RAY Wife M Female B 26 TX Keeping House TX TX
Jas RAY Son S Male B 6 TX AL TX
Allie RAY Son S Male B 4 TX AL TX
Albert RAY Son S Male B 2 TX AL TX

Happy Hunting (^_^)
