I have just located one of my long lost relatives in Brenham in the 1860 census. Elihu (Eli) and Isabella (Roerty) HOGAN disappeared from Garrard Co., KY after 1855 when they sold all their property. They had five children and I had not been able to find any of them after the 1850 census. I recently accidentally came across them in Brenham, TX while looking for another name that turned out not to be mine.
Strange things happen in Genealogy...It is like the ghosts are leading us sometimes.
In 1860 Census in Brenham: Eli Hogan, age 62, a Builder worth $5,000 born in KY and his wife Isabella, age 53 also born in KY. Their son James, age 30, a Lawyer, and daughter Mary age 14 are living with them.
They also had William P., Joseph J. and John J. who are not living with them at the time.
If anyone has access to Marriage records or Cemetary records I would like to know what happened to this family and this might give me clues where to look for them. I didn't find any of them in the 1870 Index. Perhaps they moved on if they didn't die in Washington County.
