Rev. David Fisher settled in Gay Hill between 1840 and 1848. In 1850 both Rev David Fisher and his brother Rev. Orceneth Fisher were living in Washington County, just 8 households apart. David was a Baptist minister, like his grandfather David Fisher; Orceneth was a Methodist minister and became quite prominent, as did his 2nd wife whose portrait is hanging in the Texas State Senate Chamber.
