I'm afraid I can't help you with any facts, but just let you know you are on the right track. I lived in the Granfalls area before WW II, in fact I enlisted in the Army from there.
I do remember the Boyd name, but can't come up with any particulars. The part about moving to Snyder is probably correct. Grandfalls and Royalty were oil field towns then, and when Standard Oil built a new plant in Snyder, several of the Standard employees moved there. My cousin was one of them. After being in Snyder several years, Standard transferred several of them back to Kermit in Winkler county.
My cousin's husband Bill White who is retired in Kermit now could probably help you. His phone number is 915-586-5100.
The only Murray I knew in Grandfalls was M. B. Murray, and his wife's name was Garnet (don't know maiden name).
