I am looking for information on my Great Great Grandmother Sarah HOUSE and my Great Grandmother Argent Missouri SMITH
My Great Grandparents were married in Waller Co. Tx., on Jan. 01, 1880. Her name was Argent Missouri Smith married William Harrison"Harry"House LaDo(LeDoux).
Harry LaDo inlisted Oct. 5, 1861 at Hockley "Virginia Point" at Field Store, under XAVIER BLANCHARD DeBRAY, who was Col. of the Regiment known as "The Menagarie" which became a part of the "TWENTY SIXTH TEXAS CAVALRY" that was orgianized in 1862. I have his war records.
I have found my Gr.grandfathers parents Napoleon LaDo and Sarah House, married July 1, 1840 in Harris Co.,Republic of Texas.,(I have their marriage certificate) but no information on my Gr. Grand Mother Argent Missouri SMITH, born in Al.,(married LaDo) or My Great Great Grand Mother Sarah House (married LaDo), who may be the daughter of Joseph House in Harris County,Tx. Her husband Napoleon LaDo, was a wittness on some legal papers for Joseph House in Harris Co.
In the 1840's,They lived in the norther area of Harris Co, which later became Waller Co. Sarah may have died after child birth, because Napoleon is remarried on the 1850 census listed on Grimes & Waller Co.,census. They may have acturaly been in the same location, because there was such a dispute over county lines, when census records were taken for Waller and Grimes Counties in 1850.
There is a Caroline Smith (Widow)on the 1880 census for Waller County, with children, listed below Harry and Argent LaDo. This may be her mother.
Any information on the HOUSE, LaDo or Smith Families will be greatly appreciated.
Helen in Texas
