States: Texas: Walker
I am looking for the ancestors of James M. TUCKER, born in Walker Co. Texas. He was one of the sons of my 2nd Great grandfather Albert Tucker (b. Feb. 1827 N.C or S.C). He married Mary A. I. BURNET, (b.1830 MS). They were married in Louisiana or Texas. She came to the Walker Co. area w/ her brother Joseph Burnet. Albert and Mary had several children: 1) Nancy E. Tucker b. 1845 (m. James A. Sims); 2) John Bunyon Tucker b. 1848 (m. Charlotte Matilda Welch); 3) Uriah Tucker b. abt 1850 (m. Hannah Bradford); 4) Amos R. Tucker b.abt. 1851 (marital status unk.); 5) Mary A. Tucker b. 1852 (m. John W. Sims); 6) Albert Tucker b. abt. 1856 (m. Julia Smith): and James M. Tucker b. abt. 1860 (martial status unk). In fact I would be glad to learn additional information about any of these people and their ancestors. The Tucker family came to the area between 1840 - 1845 and settled in a rural area now called West Sandy. It had other previous names, one of which, was Goshen. Albert and Mary were listed in the Walker Co. census of 1850, 1860, and 1870. There is some confusion about who he married, if any, after Mary's death. It is possible that James M. Tucker and Amos R. Tucker died as children or were never married; therefore, the reason I have not obtained marriage information for them. In addition I know nothing about either Albert Sr. or Mary Burnet's parentage or siblings (from S.C. and MS, except for Mary's brother Joseph). There is a recorded marriage for an Albert Tucker and a Mrs. Mary Kearse Hendrix, who had 3 daughters together: 1& 2) Onita and Inez Tucker (twins, b. about 1887) and Epsie Tucker, b. abt 1888. Epsie m. Willie Frank Nixon. I don't know if this Albert is Jr. or Sr. This marriage took place 28 Nov. 1886. The death date I have for Albert Tucker Sr. is 25 Oct. 1898. There is an Albert Tucker buried in the Ebernizer cemetery near Grimes Co. Mary Burnet Tucker is buried in the Farris Cemetery in West Sandy. Any help and additional information would be greatly appreciated.
